How Now Brown Cow?
MSU is a Land Grant University. An ag school. A cow college. We have farms, cows, and a dairy. Students can major in beef or in meat science.
CTU, too, has a strong tradition in ag education. They have farms and cows. And today while waiting for a ride from campus to my hotel, I saw a pretty brown cow moving with dispatch along a sidewalk in the center of campus.
At first I thought this was just something that happened sometimes at CTU – one more of these cultural things that surprises me but is commonplace here, like people cooking and eating on the city sidewalks. But apparently I was wrong – this cow was on the lam (pun intended) and was as unlikely to be walking by CTU’s new technology center/library as it would have been walking into the administration building at MSU.
One more lesson in not making assumptions about the meanings behind observations. (Sorry I didn’t get a picture – it was very pretty – but moving way too fast!)
